Azure SQL Database offers a feature that uses artificial intelligence to improve the database’s performance. The AI learns from other databases in Microsoft Azure, observing user behaviour and performance of active tasks. Based on this information, it looks for new solutions and then offers suggestions to the user on how to improve their work with the database and optimise its performance.
The user can browse through these suggestions and apply or decline them. If a suggestion is declined, the system will search for other solutions until the user turns the feature off completely. However, the feature does not in any way hamper performance and does not limit the user during work in any way. The longer the feature is running, the better the suggestions it should be able to provide.
The feature is completely free and we will gladly assist you in setting it up to maximise the database’s functionality. You can then control and evaluate the AI’s suggestions yourself. It is important to note that this feature only applies to Microsoft’s SaaS (Software as a Service) software databases.
The system can be set up in multiple ways, depending on the level of control the user requires. It features an option where suggestions approved by the user automatically apply to the database, but the manual application is also available. Suggestions can be applied manually via the Azure portal or using scripts and tools chosen by the user themselves.
The use of AI provides something of a look from outside – the artificial intelligence assesses our work steps, behaviour in the database and tries to find ways to eliminate any “weak points” that prevent efficient work within the system.
If you are interested in making use of the feature or have questions regarding its setup, do not hesitate to contact us. We would be happy to assist.
